Staff Move-In Tshirt.

As a Graphic Design Intern for Illinois State University Housing, I developed promotional materials that supported student engagement and campus community initiatives. This move-in staff shirt was created for Illinois State University's annual move-in weekend, an event that marks the beginning of students' transition into campus life. The concept centered on the idea of Illinois State becoming a "home away from home," welcoming students and their families into a new community while easing the uncertainty that often comes with moving to a new environment.

The design combines Illinois State's visual identity with approachable messaging, using typography, color, and mascot integration to communicate school spirit, belonging, and excitement. The phrase "Welcome Home" was intentionally chosen to reinforce the sense of comfort, connection, and support that University Housing strives to provide. The bold staff identification on the back ensured team members remained highly visible and accessible throughout move-in activities, helping students quickly locate assistance during one of the university's busiest events.

Throughout the design process, multiple concepts and directions were explored, each offering a different interpretation of welcome, community, and campus pride. Worn by housing staff throughout move-in weekend, the shirt became both a functional wayfinding tool and a visual representation of the welcoming environment Illinois State seeks to create for every new student beginning their college journey.
